Ask before recording

Before recording a doctor visit, ask your doctor and anyone else present for permission.

Suggested script

Doctor, I would like to record this visit so I can remember your instructions and share the important details with my family. Is that okay?

If the doctor says no

If your doctor or anyone else present does not agree to be recorded, do not record. You can still use Meridian Health to add notes manually after the visit.

Laws vary by location

Recording laws vary by country, state, and setting. You are responsible for following the laws and rules that apply where your appointment takes place.

Be respectful in clinical settings

Do not record other patients, clinic staff, or private conversations that are not part of your visit.

Sharing recordings and summaries

Only share recordings, transcripts, or summaries with people you trust and have permission to involve in your care.
